(endemic to the Pyrenees) 
  Salix bicolor   

     
 
Foliage:
the upperside is shiny green whereas the underside is green-blue to white.

Flowers:
the male katkins are oblong, with downy scales.

  Size:
up to 4 m.

Habitat:
near springs, streams and rivers.

  In the Pyrenees:
throughout the range at mountain and subalpine levels (from 1,400 to 2,300 m).

Typical companions:
Pyrenean water saxifrage, hedge-garlic adenostyle, Pyrenean valerian, white hellobore, masterwort, cicerbita, Alpine blue-sow-thistle...
